Tehran is to host a cartoon festival on tourism, museum, disabled and elderly people on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Organized by Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Ministry in collaboration with the Iranian House of Cartoon and the Iranian National Committee for ICOM (the International Council of Museums), the event is slated for December 03, 2022.
The festival aims to change society’s perception of people with disabilities to remove travel barriers for them, and provide infrastructure and special tours for this segment of the population.
This event also aims “to facilitate the tourism process for people with disabilities and the elderly, strengthen the self-confidence of those with disabilities, and teach how to deal with people with disabilities and the elderly when traveling,” according to Tehran Times.
Back in October, an official with the tourism ministry announced that Iranian tour guides are being trained to provide accessible tours for people with disabilities as well as the elderly.
In recent years, several tours have been organized for people with disabilities, the elderly, and children to bring vitality and a longer life expectancy and encourage growth and prosperity, he added.
